Carbon Foam Fireblock/Fire Barrier Applications

Because of its high strength and fire-resistant properties, coupled with its ease of combining with other materials, Touchstone's Carbon Foam makes an ideal material for use in fire barrier applications.

Shown here is a special bulkhead developed for an aircraft firewall, which uses Touchstone's Carbon Foam as the core structural material as well as the fireblock and noise insulation. The facesheets are fiberglass phenolic. An array of attachments and feedthrough approaches were developed for this fire-resistant panel.
